Super Falcons’ Bonuses Fully Paid, Houses and $100k Reward in Progress — Olopade

The National Sports Commission (NSC) has dismissed rumors about unpaid bonuses for the Super Falcons, clarifying that all outstanding payments were made before the team’s final game against Morocco.

Speaking on Arise TV on Friday, NSC Director-General Bukola Olopade confirmed, “I can say with certainty that all their bonuses have been paid. I spoke with Ajibade yesterday, as well as the NFF, and everyone is in agreement.”

He, however, noted a slight exception, explaining that one or two players might not have received their payments yet due to banking delays involving the Central Bank of Nigeria.

However, he assured that President’s pledge would be honored, stating,

“On the promise of Mr. President, I can assure you that it will be paid.”

Olopade added that the NSC is collaborating with the Minister of Works and Housing to ensure the team receives the houses promised to them.

Olopade said the NSC is in touch with the Minister of Works and Housing, as well as the Renewed Hope Housing Initiative, to ensure the Super Falcons receive their houses promptly.

He stressed that the NSC places high importance on athletes’ pay and well-being, noting, “The NSC doesn’t play with the remuneration and welfare of athletes,” and assured that all pending matters would be resolved soon.

His comments were a direct response to concerns raised by Rasheedat Ajibade regarding the $100,000 reward for the team’s WAFCON triumph.

In a recent interview, Ajibade had stated, “We have not received our money, but hopefully, it would be paid. They have not paid, all the promises, we have not received anything.” She also added that their match bonuses were still being processed, saying, “Even our match bonuses and everything are all still work in progress.”
